Prayer for a Winter Day

As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
(Psalm 42:1-2 ESV)

Lord of life and love, help us to worship thee in the holiness of beauty, that some beauty of holiness appear in us. Quiet our souls in thy presence with the stillness of a wise trust. Lift us above dark moods, and the shadow of sin, that we may find thy will for our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(From the Book of Worship)

  1. Kel, I love that deer picture. Just beautiful. Deer capture something of God I cannot articulate. To me they are God reminders...not always seen but very present hidden amongst the trees...

    1. Dawn- This deer seemed so at peace in the woods. She didn't even startle when we walked nearby. I zoomed in to get the picture, but if my friend hadn't pointed her out, the deer would have remained unseen...and her refuge was her hiddenness in God's trees that match her coat to the point she is hidden from her predators...makes me think of hiding beneath God's wings...safe and secure from all alarm

    1. Diane- I love the part about "wise trust" and the request to "lift us above our dark moods" I need that prayer as winter lingers on and I long for spring and summer days :)

  3. Ohhhhhh, I love the line in the prayer about the 'beauty of holiness' in us. Father, by your grace and for your glory, you are changing me. (II Cor. 3:18).

Beautiful photos and words, friend. Thanks for sharing.
