Love has good manners and does not pursue selfish advantage. It is not touchy. It does not keep account of evil or gloat over the wickedness of other people. On the contrary, it is glad with all good men
when truth prevails.
(1 Corinthians 13:5-6 J.B. Phillips)
Offering some prayers of devotion to our Beloved Savior:
You
Offer Me Life
You offer me
patience, when I am edgy.
You offer me
kindness, when I am cantankerous.
You offer me mercy,
when I am rude.
You offer me modesty,
when I am smug.
You offer me a way
out, when I am selfish.
You offer me
repentance, when I am resentful.
You offer me a change
of heart, when I’m irritable.
You offer me an
eraser, when I tally up wrong.
You offer me a song,
when I want to pout.
You offer me love,
when I want to hide.
Snow Day Predicted
I love you, O my God . . .
You are my snow day, my warmth.
You fill me with expectation
as I wait for the promised snow
that will stop the city for a day,
then melt away.
For this moment let me watch and pray,
as the snowflakes float to the earth; covering,
echoing birth,
muffling death's dirge.
Oh, love this. ANd snow...and thinking of Him as my Snow Day...yes.
ReplyDeleteDawn- We rarely get lots of snow here in St. Louis, so it's like a holiday when a storm really stops by...most people don't like it, but I love a day to stay in and bake or read...this time, my nieces and nephews came over...and my mom and sister and both my sons...we played and ate all day..such fun! And today the snow is still here and life is still slowed down and I have the house to myself to enjoy the Savior!
DeleteOh, Kel...beautiful. You put a huge smile on my face! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteDiane-Sharing your smile, as I revel in the love and grace of God that slows us down just when we need it. We had a lovely snow day yesterday and it is spilling over in today, until the melting begins...
DeleteKel, these random thoughts just make me smile. The Phillips' translation you're sharing from 1 Corinthians 13 is great. And I can relate to your prayer of God's amazing exchange.
ReplyDeleteStay warm today!
Jody- I love random thoughts...they keep me smiling and moving toward the love of Christ :) I never read the Phillips version of these Scriptures before...it is very rich and fresh...I need His exchange everyday and I am grateful for the availabilty of God's free offer of grace! Staying warm and wishing you warm thoughts and peace today-Kel
