Like a Tree

Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted
along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
(Psalm 1:1-3 NLT)

The above picture was taken last week in Phoenix, AZ. It was a delight to see oranges growing in season along the streets. I wasn't expecting to see fruit in winter. Seeing the oranges made me think of how spiritual fruit might come to maturity, even in the winter.

  1. 'of how spiritual fruit might come to maturity, even in the winter.' Hmmmm...especially in the winter, when it's hardest to live given (depending on your environment) the gray, the cold, the rain. But it's in those dark seasons that we need the light the most.

I grew up in Southern California and remember the orange trees well--I miss them!

    1. Good observation...just the reason oranges can grown in the Southwest...more light and warmth there in the winter! But as spiritual beings we can soak in the Light whenever we want through the Word...cool!
