Thrilling Guest Thursday Reprise {and Moving Day}

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.
(Philippians 1:3 NLT)

A little over a year ago, I made a commitment to blog on a regular basis. One of my favorite features has been Thrilling Guest Thursdays! I went back through the archives and gathered the first posts of each guest to thank them personally for sharing of themselves and their journeys with us here at Nourishment for the Soul. Some were one time visitors, who I hope will return again next year, and others have become regulars that we look forward to greeting in this place. Click on the guest name to revisit their words and their hearts. If you would like to find other posts from Thrilling Guest Thursday, just use the handy search gadget at the top right hand side of the blog and plug in "Thrilling Guest Thursday".

I am thankful for words and this place to feed on them, for readers, for comments, for guests, for blogger and for God giving us the ability to form friendships through words and common journeys.

Here's the guest list from 2012-2013:

I have decided to move Nourishment for the Soul...you will now find me at kelrohlf.wordpress.com. I was ready for a new look and a new format. Please follow me over there. I will keep the archives up here for now. And I have transferred them to the new place, too. I am looking forward to seeing where God takes us this new church year, as Advent begins on Sunday. See you over at the new place, where we can continue the dialogue about words and the WORD!

31 Days of Nourishment for the Soul {Day 6}

You may not have noticed, but I am participating in the 31 Days of Challenge offered by The Nester. It is a challenge to write on a topic for 31 days...so in October, I am going to write and post on the weekends, thus extending my goal of five days a week to a month of 31 days. Oh, I forgot to tell you my topic. Since I like to nourish souls, I will continue to offer this blog as "a place to feed on words" for the next 31 days.

Grab My Badge

Today's Word is PRAY.

Pray means "to address God...with adoration, confession, supplication, or thanksgiving"

It also means to entreat or implore, to make a request in a humble manner. (www.m-w.com)

I like the four-fold approach to prayer sometimes called ACTS of prayer.

Adoration: Praising God for Who He Is
Confession: Admitting my faults and need for a Savior
Thanksgiving: Giving God the credit for all the Graces in my life
Supplication: Making humble requests of a Loving Father in Heaven

I like acrostic poems, so I wrote four "pray" acrostics covering these aspects of prayer. I will list them in the order of ACTS.

Praising,
Rejoicing in &
Adoring...
Yahweh!

Paying
Real Close
Attention--
Yielding.

Presenting
Remembrances of
Acclaim to
Yahweh.

Placing humble
Requests of
All varieties to
Yahweh.

Coming Soon

And Joshua commanded the officers of the people, “Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land
that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’”
(Joshua 1:10-11 ESV)

Life is eventful! Full of events that keep us occupied and often running out of time for the things we really desire to accomplish. Can it be August already? I stood at the corner today watching my sister send her kids off on the school bus. Her youngest entered kindergarten. Where have the years gone?

Our boys flew the coop in January to rent their own apartment. Summer has been hot, hot, hot in St. Louis. My husband and I escaped for a few weeks to celebrate our new season of life. While out on Lake Michigan, we relaxed. And I renewed my passion for art, nature, writing and all things creative. As the school year begins, I don't have any children at home to mark the transition. I am not taking any classes myself. But I want to take this time to start anew.

I redesigned the background on my blog, removed some clutter and refreshed the photos. I am getting ready to roll out some daily postings on August 20th.
